DAS A
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

The DasA project strives to incite curiosity, understanding and liking for classical music among high school students. It aims to popularize high art and provoke positive transformation in the young generation’s attitude towards music.

Aside from its mainstream concert activities in Armenia and abroad, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra is acknowledged for its growing input in the education of young people.

Launched in 2018 by the orchestra in lead of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan, the DasA project strives to incite curiosity, understanding and liking for classical music among high school students. It aims to popularize high art and provoke positive transformation in the young generation’s attitude towards music. The framework of the project comprises open lessons and extra-curricular meetings with high school students to explore classical music, its history and cultural impact as well as introduce them to specific classical masterpieces before attending the concert performances that follow these open lessons.

This enriching experience turns out to be a revelation for many students who are having their first ever attendance to a classical music concert. In the course of 2 years, the Das A lessons were delivered to over 12000 students of 35 high schools, resulting in recurring future attendance by 40% of the target group students to the Armenian State Symphony Orchastra’s concerts.
